Ecological and Economic Impacts of Alien Invasive Yellow Flag (Iris pseudacorus L.) in China

نویسندگان

چکیده

Non-native aquatic plants can alter the physiochemical condition of habitats and have negative ecological economic impacts. Thus, understanding characteristics non-native plant species is important as a foundation for conservation biodiversity environmental management. The yellow flag (Iris pseudacorus) an emergent native to Africa, northwest Asia, Europe that has been introduced through aquarium trade all continents except Antarctica. This recently brought into China it established large widespread naturalized populations causing serious problems. Unfortunately, information about in very scarce. We summarize introduction pathways, current distribution, impacts field surveys review literature. hope this study provide useful researchers wetland managers involved with other regions.

Ecological niche modeling of invasive alien plant species in a protected landscape

Non-native plants that can cause adverse effects are otherwise known as invasive alien plant species which pose a major threat to plant biodiversity conservation and sustainability. This study is dedicated to determine the plant diversity and to assess the vulnerability of Quezon Protected Landscape, Southern Luzon, the Philippines to invasive alien plant species. Data from 90 10x10 m randomly ...

Invasive alien plants in South Africa: how well do we understand the ecological impacts?

Introduction This account provides a brief overview of alien plant invasions in South Africa, with special emphasis on what is known about their consequences, including those affecting the delivery of ecosystem goods and services. We draw on published and unpublished sources, and highlight some important research challenges in invasion ecology that need to be met if we are to address critical g...

Ecological impacts of invasive alien species along temperature gradients: testing the role of environmental matching.

Invasive alien species (IAS) can cause substantive ecological impacts, and the role of temperature in mediating these impacts may become increasingly significant in a changing climate. Habitat conditions and physiological optima offer predictive information for IAS impacts in novel environments. Here, using meta-analysis and laboratory experiments, we tested the hypothesis that the impacts of I...

Ecological Impacts of Alien Species: Quantification, Scope, Caveats, and Recommendations

Despite intensive research during the past decade on the effects of alien species, invasion science still lacks the capacity to accurately predict the impacts of those species and, therefore, to provide timely advice to managers on where limited resources should be allocated. This capacity has been limited partly by the context-dependent nature of ecological impacts, research highly skewed towa...

The physiological response and sub-cellular localization of lead and cadmium in Iris pseudacorus L.

The seedling development and physiological responses of Iris pseudacorus L. to Pb and Cd and their combination were studied for 28 days liquid culture and sub-cellular localization of Pb and Cd in the root tip cells treated with 2,070 mg L(-1) Pb and 1,000 mg L(-1)Cd for 16 days sand culture was evaluated. Results showed that the dry weights (DWs) of shoots and roots of I. pseudacorus were sign...
